BOOGIE WOOGIE PIANO PLAYERS

Cameron Fallaw was born in 1987 in Mont Albert North, Victoria, Australia. At the early age of 8 he took up Classical Piano lessons. It was not until he was 16 years old that he first heard the driving sounds of a Boogie Woogie Piano and was immediately hooked. Upon his successful completion of grade 8 Classical Piano, he wasted no time in shipping some Boogie Woogie sheet music over from America. From that time he has not looked back

I've been asked a lot about my piano so I'll write about it here.
It's an old (about 100 or something) Bluthner "upright grand" as they used to call it. It was called this because basically it was a grand piano (baby grand I would think with a modified frame) turned upright. This gives it a beautiful rich, full-bodied bass and treble (although you can't really appreciate it in my videos because of the recording quality).
It also has an unusual "over-damper" system (where the dampers are above the hammers), whereas almost all other pianos are under-damper (dampers under hammers). This over-damper system is the reason why you can see all those wires in front of the hammers in my videos :)

My grandfather bought it a long time ago when my father was a little. Eventually my grandfather gave it to my aunt because she was the only one in the family who played piano at the time (other than my grandfather).
My aunt then gave it to me a few years ago and when I got it was not in good shape! It had been so neglected through the years that it's taken about 6 tunes to get it to where it is now! But after many tunes and many broken strings later, it finally came up. The next step is a re-felt (that's quite expensive though!)
The case and keys are in really bad shape as well. It's had methylated spirits spilt on the top causing the walnut veneer to peel off. My dad also told me the reason for the chips in the keys are because when he was little one of his friends decided to hit the keys with a hammer...
