Hi I'm Johannes, born in 1980 in Berlin, Germany, and I have been fascinated with boogie woogie music ever since I first heard it (which was at a concert by Axel Zwingenberger when I was some eleven years old). Though I had classical piano lessons from the age of 7, it was not until the late nineties that I really dug into boogie woogie playing. Earlier attempts were quite unsuccessful, because I didn't know anyone around who could teach me how to play it, and I hadn't been aware of sheet music. So all I could do was listening to rather bad-quality tape recordings and try to figure out what was played. The results were rather dissatisfying ... Zwingenberger's music sheets and programs that allow one to slow down and loop records or parts of it, opened the door to more sophisticated boogie woogie playing. One of my major interests is the authentic reproduction of old pieces, and producing transcriptions of these classics (which is one of the projects for the near future).
