TO THE WORLD OF THE BOOGIE WOOGIE PIANO

This web site is currently not being attended but I can still be contact as normal.

It's just that I have moved on to other projects  and although continue to help others whenever I can.

Rather than remove it from the internet along with all of its valuable information that has been gathered for  well over 6 years,  it will be left on display for all those who visit,  and its hoped they will  enjoy and at times use some of the  information if they wish to play Boogie Woogie Piano.

When YouTube first started up this was a pioneer site, nobody had anything like it or had tried  to use it like we develop it, free of charge to everybody and I might stress with no adverts.

It only came about with the help and cooperation of Eeco Rapp who I believe was one of the first to display his piano talents on YouTube, and as you all know has gone on to bigger and better things. Best of Luck Eeco and also to all the other young people who at one time or another came on board and  helped me on this site. In the end it was too time consuming and I was not receiving a of of help.

I have to add one further link that might be of help to you all from André Gussekloo who was also on the site at one time. He has a site that's speciality is Boogie Woogie Piano Sheet Music

I've been a musician for most of my life, having purchased my very first guitar way back in 1956. In 1967 I went on the road with my first Rock an Roll band the "Forbidden Fruit". Over the years I played with several bands right through to 2006 when I finally called it a day, while playing with The "Fabulous Chryslers" in Brisbane Australia. After all 39 years was not a bad innings.

Looking for another challenge I decided to take up the piano. For most of my life I have always wanted to play in the Boogie Woogie style, so as you might have guessed that's the avenue I choose to go down. However I have not been able to find anybody locally who played in that style who could assist me. Therefore I have had to try and work it all out for myself, which has turned out to be a very slow, painful way of learning. Although I was very lucky to find a web site in the USA and they sent me a book which has been a great help. Its called "Learn Boogie Woogie Piano" by Colin Davey and Frank Poloney. I struggled at first because I cannot read music, but slowly I learnt a lot from that book especially after I wrote above the notes in pencil. At the moment I like to listen to Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons and especially Rob Rio a modern day version of those first two guys and a musician I place at the top of my all time list.

The idea of this site is to attract Boogie Woogie Piano Players, in order that they might be able to help us so called learners on the questions forum and with their video clips. The world is very quickly becoming a small place and with computers its getting smaller by the minute. Now-a-days distance is not a problem and so I would like to take advantage of that to try and get assistance with my learning of the Boogie Woogie Piano Style. Along the way I hope that it will also help others who find them selves in the very same predicament.

Since I set up this web page I have been inundated with help from all around the world. It has amazed me that there are so many people just like me, all wanting help and claiming just like me that they do not have teachers locally who can assist their learning. Since I started adding the up and coming Boogie Woogie piano players to this site, it has snow balled. I now realise that you do not need music teachers living next door to you. The web has suddenly become our teacher. With young people like Eeco and Cam helping us at every opportunity, the door is now wide open to those who wish to enter and to make use of the reams of information being offered by them and many others. I must also add that ALL the people on this site drop into that same category and would help you at every opportunely. Maybe you would like to join in the Boogie Woogie FORUM and to see whether those bugging questions can be answered from the comfort of your own home.
