Hi my name is Tim Deelen
I was born in 1991 in the Netherlands, and have been playing the piano since I was six years of age. When I was ten years old, I was selected for the Training of Young Talent in the Classical Music program at the Music Academy (Conservatory of Amsterdam). Although my education so far has been mainly classical, from the moment I started playing I have been interested in the improvisational possibilities of boogie woogie and blues piano. Although I had been on stage a number of times my first big experience was when I was invited by Ricky Nye to play at his Boogie and Blues summit in Cincinnati, OH, USA, October 2004. This was an unforgettable experience for me. I played together with Big Joe Duskin, Martijn Schok, Renaud Patigny and Ricky. In November 2004 I played at Martijn Schok’s Boogie Woogie Trainride in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. In July 2005 I was invited to Cincinnati again, this time to play at the Cincy Blues Fest, this was great as well. I met Henry Gray, Ann Rabson, Big Joe Duskin, Bob Seeley and many others. (Although I had met Bob previosely in the Netherlands, when he invited me on stage at Martijn’s International Festival in 2005). Bob heard me play the evening before the festival and called me up during the evening of the Festival. We played together which was great fun! I also joined in with the finale that evening. In October 2005 I played at Renaud Patigny’s summit in Brussels, Belgium where I had a great time as well. This time I played together with Silvan Zingg and Frank Muschalle. In August 2006 I played at the International Boogie Festival in Laroquebrou, France, where I played Jean-Paul Amouroux and others.
